Unforgettable vacation in Szekesfehervar in October
In my opinion, getting to know Szekesfehervar in October is a great choice. Personally, I do not like the heat, and the middle of autumn is coolness and trees decorated with golden foliage.
The historic city center is small, all the main attractions are located next to each other and not far from the bus station. True, without a card, I still managed to get lost, but this must be talented!
I was very touched by the story of a thrush grandmother. More recently, she went around Szekesfehervar with a cart and offered everyone to buy milk from her. When she was gone, the townspeople raised money and ordered her sculpture. Now she again pleases both residents and visitors.
Before the trip, I always carefully prepare myself, even look at what holidays fall on the dates I need. And since there were no holidays on this day, I boldly went to Szekesfehervar on Friday without cash forints, intending to exchange euros for local currency in any exchange. How wrong I was! There really were no holidays, but there was a day of mourning. All shops, banks, etc. were closed tightly. Bus drivers do not take either the euro or the card. It is good that I guessed to withdraw cash forints from the card at the ATM.
But almost all museums were free that day. I visited the Ethnographic Museum, in which one wall is completely decorated with very beautiful mosaics, and the sarcophagus of St. Stephen is located. Then I went to the museum pharmacy. Of course, this is an amateur, but I try to visit such museums in all cities. Seeing my heightened interest in pharmacy exhibits, the ministers specified from which country I was and gave a memo in Russian. A trifle, but nice!
In the toy museum they took 500 forints for the opportunity to take pictures, despite the fact that it was supposed to be completely free. Well, here Ostap suffered! Several halls in which dolls, toy houses, furniture are exhibited by epoch and theme! In general, I recommend this museum to everyone, and it will be especially interesting for children. For them there is a game room in which you can take everything, twirl, touch – beauty! My mother lived in Germany as a child. When I showed her photos from the toy museum, she saw on them exactly the same doll that she played at a young age!
Further, my path lay on the outskirts of Szekesfehervar in the castle of Bori. The castle itself, all the internal exhibits are made by Boris’s own hands, and everything is dedicated to his beloved wife. Of course, at the time when it was being built, a brick was already invented, but anyway, it is so amazing and touching – to invest so much labor and effort, and all for the sake of love! Entrance ticket costs 800 forints, the castle closes early – at 17 hours. I would advise you to start exploring Szekesfehervar from the castle, as you might not have time to close it.
I really liked the city, and I think that one day is not enough. I would like to return to Szekesfehervar again and go for a few hours to the Arpad baths. Judging by the reviews, many visitors like them even more than the baths of Budapest. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time for them, so I have to return again to my favorite Szekesfehervar!
