Should I go on vacation to Gagra and what to do there?
When I did not have a foreign passport yet, I chose for a long time where to spend my vacation. But, honestly, according to the reviews of my friends, I did not want to go to Russian resorts. My husband said that even before we met, he had several vacations in Abkhazia and he really liked it. So we, having conferred, decided to go there on vacation.
And so they began to look on the Internet where you can rent a house in Gagra, but the proposed options did not suit us, since the prices were very high. We went to the forum and there already found a man who recently rested there. He gave us a number, one of the locals. We called and agreed on housing with Marat – that was the name of the owner of the house. He said that even he would come to meet us at the station.
We got without incident, Marat was already waiting for us in his car. He brought us to our temporary home, told where he was lying and invited him to dinner in the evening, he lived next door. After dinner, we asked about where to relax and what to see. Marat said that if we have a desire, he will arrange a tour for us.
The next day we moved into the city. First we went to the nearest beach, but to be honest, I didn’t like it, there were a lot of people, and the dirt everywhere, I was upset. But later her husband remembered that somewhere nearby there is another beach in Old Gagra, he was already resting there. Next we had a trip to the market, the prices there didn’t really impress me, they practically did not differ from ours, the only products were cheaper.
Going to Old Gagra, I was simply surprised, there is silence and peace. And our guide gave us a tour of the sights. First, we visited the Eucalyptus Alley, this amazing place, the beauty is simply beyond words.
Most of all I was fascinated by the Gagra Temple, it is located in the center of the fortress of Abaat, now there is a museum of weapons. It’s very interesting to see all this because there are also medieval robes, which are quite well preserved. And in the very center of Old Gagra you can see – Kollonada. This is an Moorish-style arcade with a fountain in the center.
Still, a trip by car is not very convenient, so we spent the next rest on foot or by public transport. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, we spent in various restaurants, there are a lot of them. The prices are very attractive and the portions served are huge. You should definitely try khachipuri, the taste is simply amazing, I have never tried such a deliciously prepared dish anywhere. Having gone to the market that Marat showed us, we decided to buy fruits and berries. All products sold are unusually fresh and tasty. Also, local merchants offered us to buy a weighted seasoning, which we can take to relatives as a gift. Now I really regret that I took it so little, the aroma that radiates the dish during cooking, just drives the bag.
We also visited the local zoo, but there are not so many animals there and to be honest, it is not well-groomed, so you should not go there. But the water park, which is located not far from the Abkhazia Hotel, should be visited by everyone.
The water park has a lot of pools and six water slides. The only thing that may not be enough is umbrellas, but there are enough sun loungers. The cost of visiting the park is about 600 rubles, but the time is unlimited. In the evening, there are simply stunning discos, sometimes with live music. You can also visit the cafe, which serves national cuisine, only the prices are high, but due to the fact that many visitors the service is slow. For children, of course, a lot of entertainment is presented, so they definitely will not be bored. Take a shower is also not difficult, in the territory there are showers.
Our vacation was just unforgettable, I really liked everything. So, do not be upset if there is no way to go abroad, visit Gagra. You will certainly like it and there will be no incomprehensible language barriers, and the hospitality possessed by the Abkhazians is worthy of the highest rating.
