Youth holidays in Tenerife
From European countries for winter recreation is not just something to choose if it is not a ski resort. But if you want to swim, the only right choice that occurred to us was the Canary Islands. In January, we flew with friends to Tenerife.
Our habitat was the southern resort of the island – Playa de Las Americas. I recommend it for youth recreation – noisy, party, night life does not subside until the morning. What we needed. And if you are traveling with children, it is better to give preference to Costa Adeje (resorts are nearby).
They feared the weather at this time, but did not regret it – the winter months of January and February are a good time to relax in the southern part of Tenerife. The air temperature in the daytime was in the region of 21-22 C, at night – 17-18 C (so it is better to take warm clothes for night walks), and the water in the ocean warmed up to 20-21 C.
All Las Americas beaches with fine fine sand, mostly grayish in color. The best beach for a relaxing holiday is Playa del Duc, but of course we preferred the noisy and youthful Playa de Troy. Admission to all beaches is free, but for a set of 2 sunbeds and an umbrella you will have to pay about 10-15 euros. Not cheap. So it’s better to grab your mats and settle on them, there is enough free space on the beaches. I also highly recommend Las Vistas beach, almost 1 km long. It is located 2 km south of Las Americas. But I think you will not regret it if you spend one day relaxing here. This is one of the longest beaches of the island with beautiful golden sand. Clean, wide, in the center with a beautiful fountain – a beautiful beach in every way!
One of the days we preferred the Siam water park to the beach. In Las Americas itself there is another water park – Aqualand, but we were told that it is more suitable for families with children. There are a lot of different water slides in Siam Park. The best one for me is the Tower of Power. You fall into a glass pipe the height of a ten-story house and fly through an aquarium with colorful fish. Very cool! The park has a lot of greenery, there is a pool with sun loungers and an artificial beach, a jacuzzi. Stuck for the whole day. A ticket to the park costs 35 euros, but buying a double ticket is better – saving 5 euros per person.
I will not write in detail about food prices on the island – they are similar to the Central European ones – meals in the region of 7-10 euros, a good dinner without alcohol – from 15 euros. I just want to recommend a great restaurant with delicious seafood – Almar Tenerife. It is located 2 km from the resort center towards Costa Adeje. But this distance is worth it. Very tasty food with great views!
Las Americas itself is a very beautiful city. For leisurely walks around the resort, I recommend the Puerto Colon area. And at night, all life is concentrated in the area of Veronikas street. And if you want to travel around the island, you can visit the Eagle Park near the city. And 15 km from Las Americas is one of the most important attractions of Tenerife – San Miguel Castle. Here you can watch the knightly tournament and try on the armor yourself.
I love the Canary Islands. This is an opportunity to escape to the ocean in winter without a long flight. I really liked Las Americas for its beautiful beaches, fun nightlife and measured day. And even more so, there are so many Russian tourists here that the owners of hotels and restaurants have created menus in Russian, many of which have Russian-speaking staff. Therefore, even without knowledge of English, you will not have a language barrier. Definitely fly again!
